Elementary OS
Elementary OS is a Linux distro based on Ubuntu LTS. Running on the pay-what-you-want model, Elementary OS is regarded as the “thoughtful, ethical, and capable” alternative to macOS and Windows OS.

The Elementary project was started back in June 2009 with the release of an icon set for Ubuntu. Jupiter, its first release, was introduced in March 2011 and featured a GNOME desktop. Based on the Ubuntu LTS, its second release 0.2 Luna, was made available in August 2013. Its third and fourth releases, 0.3 Freya and 0.4 Loki, were made available in December 2015 and May 2017. Both the releases are based on the Ubuntu LTS. Its latest release, 5.0 Juno, was made available on October 16, 2018.
Elementary OS is designed and programmed in a way to make computers “easy, fun, and gorgeous.” Some of the major features of Elementary OS include a custom development environment known as Pantheon integrated with its other applications like Files, Photos, Terminal, Music, Calendar, Plank (a dock), Slingshot, Scratch (a text editor), and Videos. Moreover, it comes with the Midori web browser and Pantheon email. Other features include a new icon theme for GNOME, in-house applications, a simple file manager called Nautilus Elementary, the Gala window manager, and a new GTK+.
